So, this is the mansion Iver Johnson's widow had built after his passing . Located in Lancaster MA on rte 70 . BOING ! . There are stone carving of the initials IJ thru out .
It is currently the Perkins School for special needs. Probably the main office.
I wonder if they could take care of my special needs, if I checked myself in?
Hello, my name is Marty, and I’d like a tall frame, with the truss bridge
symmetrically placed in the center of the arch, and a two into one type truss fork.
My wife and I toured this mansion about 10 years ago and it is absolutely stunning. An administrator from the Perkins School walked us through the place and gave us a little history of the building. When we got to the dining room there were two beautiful oil paintings of Iver and Mary hanging on the wall. The guide told us that out of the clear blue sky a relative of the family, now living in either NH or VT (can't remember), just walked into the mansion unannounced one day with the paintings and asked if they wanted them !!! I remember joking with the guide and telling her he should have brought them to the Fitchburg Historical Society. Well, as luck would have it, the Perkins School recently donated the paintings to the Fitchburg Historical Society and they are now in their possession. Here are pics of the artwork.
