Can anyone tell me what was the last year for The Raleigh Sports was made in Nottingham? I picked up a 1980 Nottingham one today, and I was wondering how much longer they were still made in Nottingham. Thank you
The last major year for the US market "Sports" is 1982. I say "major" because the Sports-type bike continued to be sent to other markets and continued to be produced under other variations and model names. A 1980-81 Sports would be the within final generation of US-market Sports, when they had some multi-color paint schemes, alloy brake parts, large DOT/CPSC type reflectors, etc.
Should say on the head badge where it was made. I bought a 10spd Raleigh Grand Prix for my wife when we first were married. 1983, one of the last made in England. That's when I bought it....could have been an '82.....I've never run the serial.
