The Green Cruisers were sold as frames only, and were all custom built bikes. We built a few with gold parts and they looked great. I am not sure why it took him years to find the info, since it has been in the Schwinn dealer catalogs since they were sold back in the early 80's?

Well you have to remember not everyone was lucky enough like yourself to have worked for Schwinn when these frames were sold. To you it's common knowledge because that was part of your job to sell these frames. Not to mention you had a copy of the dealer catalogs or at the very least access to it. He was smart enough to see he wasn't finding the info on the green cruiser frames so what did he do? He started asking questions to other ppl that were into the hobby until he found his awnser. I did the same thing, I don't have access to these 1980s Dealer catalogs so what do I do, ask here on the cabe.

And this is exactly what I meant by doing your own research. The info is out there, either by doing a Google search, or reading these forums. Never believe what you are told by someone trying to sell you something, or by just some random self proclaimed keyboard expert...........LOL

Your absolutely right about that!!! it's great when you can find the info you seek from another member on this forum, but there are times when even this forum doesn't have an answer for the questions you have. When that happens is when you have to really do your research. For example, I couldn't believe with all the knowledgeable ppl on here, no one could tell me how to date the one part that got me interested in Schwinn since I was 10 yrs old. So I'm doing just like you said researching the crap out of it. I even bought 10 different examples from different years just to be able to notice all the subtle changes through the years.

This bike was left to me by wife’s gpa some years ago. I found a chainguard and put some rear tandem bars on it. The rack makes it the heaviest. I have the original bars but not chainguard. 1980

After looking close at your bike, it appears to be a 24" version with 24" Sting-ray Krate Springer Fork.
How do you like the ride? ... What are the Head Badge numbers? ... Nice Ride!

It’s a 26 inch bike. I had an extra old rack I threw on it Ride good but is definitely not a bike for cruising. Aftermarket knobbies the whitewalls were rotted.

The chainguard threw me off, little different style than the original.
