I thought I would post a few pictures of a 1963 Schwinn Typhoon that I've been working on for a little while now. First off, I know the Typhoon is not rare by any means and also isn't very collectable, as far as it's value goes. But, I received this bike in pieces as a present from my Aunt. She picked it up from someone in New Jersey, who she believes might have been the original owner. The bike had been sitting in the same spot of this guys garage for decades, she bought the bike from him, disassembled it herself, boxed up the various pieces and shipped them out to me in California. I've been sitting on the project for a little while now, always saying I'm gonna get around to putting that thing together, years end up going by and I finally got going and made some considerable progress. What you see in the pictures is where I'm at now. Hoping I can get some assistance with finding the proper seat, pedals and grips. I have the original pedals, but the spindles are terribly bent. Not sure what happened to the seat or the stock grips.... A few things I changed, and hopefully don't get too beat up on here about them: I put on an early StingRay gooseneck cause I thought it looked a lot nicer, also I used an old Varsity front hub when I laced up the stock rims with new spokes. I have the original gooseneck and front hub, plus the original Westwind tires, but they all look pretty rough, I'll keep them with the original pedals. With the serial number being L319228, I believe the bike to having been built on November 5th 1963. Does that make this bike a 1964 model? Any help from you guys on the last three remaining parts I need, more information on the bike, or anything else that might be of interest? I sure would appreciate it.
