I believe that piece is what was later named the Hornet. Depending on how late in 1949 the serial number was stamped, it could have been built in 1950. The earlier model was just the equipped D model, DB97XE. The model numbers changed in 1950 and the Hornet was model D-19. No decals on the chain guards other than the round quality Schwinn decal. There was also a change in the tank decals between the 49 and 50 models.
