Cruisin' on my Bluebird
I remember finding a copy for my dad at a toy show in the late 80s. A literal needle in a haystack. It remains one of my greatest finds. I bought a copy for myself when it was reprinted in 1996.

Lester,
I agree a good find you got for your dad back then and especially a book like this being offered today!
I have had my signed hardcover addition # 65 of the original 200 printed with the sticker on the inside of the front cover denoting it as one of the special collector's plate copies. Can't believe I've had it 43 years now!
I still have my cancelled check for $20.90 in the book also showing I mailed (yes mailed) it off on 04-17-81 to Don. Oh the good ole days before the internet.
It has been my "go to" reference for decades now and many collector's have learned greatly from it. It never seems to go out of it's usefulness.
The newer paper back editions (that you can buy right here one the CABE or from Scott on ebay) have some subtle changes and pages don't coincide but all-in-all A GREAT BOOK and many many many hours spent by Don compiling pre-internet material and doing it the hard way by numerous phone calls, letters, finding old original catalogs, photographs (probably from some Polaroid, Kodak Instamatic and up to date SLR 35mm cameras), library visits, micro fiche, xerox and mimeograph (stinky ink) copies, etc. Don should get an award for this super-human task!!!
The ebay ad said the book didn't have it's jacket but I don't recall getting a paper jacket and it has been wrapped in a brown newspaper bag type jacket like we used to do in high school with our school books by using grocery bag paper and tape and it's been in this "bag jacket" since new in 1981. You can see the vertical discoloration on the plate series page where the grocery bag paper has discolored half the page from laying against it for decades now. The back inside cover page is discolored as well.
If there was a jacket, I probably put it "somewhere when I got the book where it wouldn't get messed up" never thinking that decades later as to "where" I put it! Sound familiar to anyone???
Someone got a good find as I see it is now SOLD and I'm glad I posted the ebay link to it.
