1940 Elgin, built by Murray-Ohio for Sears, Roebuck. This "equipped standard frame" model was priced at a reasonable $24.95. That's the equivalent of $570 now, adjusted for inflation.

The price was a bit higher west of Denver.

1988 Huffy time trial machine, one of the bikes used by Andrew Hampsten (b. April 7, 1962) to win the '88 Giro D'Italia. It was built of True Temper aluminum by Mike Melton (1949-2011).

In 1986, Columbus, Ohio native Hampsten finished fourth overall, in the Tour de France.
