View attachment 1773344sometime long ago someone chromed this old schwinn frame.serial is filled from the process.my buddy @Dizzle Problems hooked me up with the og chrome fork.the rims are cmc laced to a kk front and shimano rear with hd spokes.suntour power stem.83 dated Ashtabula cranks with a wald sproket and schwinn pedals.a plated oe seat clamp and schwinn stamped headset and bottom bracket.topped with a set of bars that were based off 70s inter-AM motocross/dirtbike bars.grip angle and sweep were changed for better comfort and looks.thanks to @Reedster for those.its super comfortable.i will swap the kashimax bmx seat for an og 80s cruiser saddle when i get one.

I keep looking at this bike. It looks so dang close to the bikes my dad built in the 80's in Costa Mesa, I'd almost bet money on it! everythingyou mention from astebula cranks, wald (12"?) seat post, (?)wald kick stand, (double walled) CMC rims, shimano rear end with 105 g spokes, ( once Bendix bailed to mexico and metal turned to garbage and hd spokes ripped through the hub flange, and the sachs rear ends with an annoying HOWL... ) Chrome Chain, suntour gooseneck with shorter bars replaced longhorn bars and wald single stem when those necks became popular. Back then, messenger seats were a must, but swap out for bmx or leather hairpin seats werent unheard of.. and yep, frames were ordered in, in Chrome for a while. Grips ranged from Wald, to mushrooms, to foam...
God where are these names coming out if my head from? I was 12.

Sorry for a really crummy picture. Bad snow has blocked the doors and I can't get to the bikes. For our wedding present in 1988, he made a matching set of 18 speed chrome cruisers. By then, much had changed as far as wald, and messenger, but they were the First of their kind, at the time. .

t's our wish to get them up and out again.

Haha, I was really digging on that 20'' Laguna then I remembered, I think I may have donated that Schwinn mattress saddle. It came off my Cook 3-bar. Small world sometimes.

Took a little cruise around the San Diego bay today. Put some taller bars on this one, they don't look as cool as the ELF bars but definitely more ergonomic for my height.
