Howdy folks-

I've got a set of Torrington signal pedals with black spindle housings and cups. I've done a bunch of searches and found just a couple of instances of this variant. I'm wondering if anyone can shed light on why these exist. Is it as simple as being a wartime version, or an early variation? They came off of a 37 CWC bicycle (although they likely weren't stock). Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

Just an observation, but it looks like there is pitting, and I would expect to see color loss in the pitting. I am thinking somebody may have taken them apart and painted those pieces. I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.
