It's my opinion that the reason there was so many different, and unique lighted Schwinn signs and clocks was because they were mostly manufactured and shipped Regionally. They have always been hard to ship without damage. For example, we had a "special pre-order period" for a Schwinn Cycling and Fitness Neon window sign. They were built in Los Angeles, shipped into Schwinn Sales West (Rancho Cucamonga), and then I picked the signs up for my dealers in Arizona, Southern Nevada for hand delivery during my normal dealer visits. Schwinn did offer some signs and clocks in the National Sales Promotion Catalog, but the Schwinn Jobbers and Sales Companies also offered different versions from time to time. It's a great collector item today.

One of my favorite Prewar Schwinn items.

Original catalog artwork in gouache of one the early catalog cantilever models with the non Autocycle decal.

The Schwinn cantilever design was the epitome of bicycle frame design from a styling and engineering perspective. It began in 1937 and ended with the closing of the Chicago factory in 1986.
Almost 50 years of continuous production. Sorry, for not including the Murray, Hungary and later bikes.

I’m aware of Mark Mattei and Webbbike having similar examples of original Schwinn catalog artwork. I’m curious how many other examples of these pieces of art are surviving today ?

Nice copy of the artwork!

JFYI, the Chicago factory production line was shut down in 1982 when the 1982 model orders were completed. All the 1983 electro-forged frame models were then produced by Murray.
