New Old Stock Sting-Ray Slik - 0 miles.

I'll have to dig mine out. I have 2 boxes of vintage tires plus all my bikes have original tires.

Is it just me or does having the original (or at least era-correct) tires make a big difference in the nostalgia of the bike? An old bike on new (even new vintage re-pops) just feels like I'm only 80% there. I love having to worry about my 50+ year old tires blowing out or if they will withstand the 35psi as I come up to a bump on the sidewalk lol. Probably just me
All depends if you are a gambler on a rider.

I like putting the heavy "thorn proof" tubes in originals that are questionable... almost like a tire in a tire ...

Here is a strange pair I haven't seen before.

Swallow branded Lightning Dart knockoffs! I went to buy a Murray Monterey, thinking it had Carlisle tires on it. I'm glad the guy kept putting off meeting and finally apologized for not being the most communicative...he said he felt bad and he would just leave the bike out for me to pick up, for free! Even at $25 I don't think I would have drug it home considering the condition of the tires and the severely loose spokes...but you never know until you show up.

This is a Carlisle Lightning Dart on the left for comparison to the Swallow version.

You might be able to tell it's a bit more narrow. The Carlisle is from a 78/79 bike. The Swallow is from an 87/88 bike...both were Murray Montereys.

Marty, that is not an unusual tread separation for a Carlisle tire. They cost the dealer lost labor time, and they cost Schwinn in warranty replacement money credited back to the dealers. I was not high enough in the food chain to hear why Schwinn's Key Management was never that concerned about the high number of Carlisle warranty replacements? Maybe they got 100% reimbursement from Carlisle? It was a lot of money and somebody paid for it.

I have ridden the Carlisle made Schwinn front WSW Knobby tire on my grey Cycle Truck for twenty years with a tread separation, "knock on wood". LOL
