You don't see these every day. Sutter was a small French builder founded in 1896. This looks like a 1980s bike with clean styling and limited fork curvature, but it has the longer wheelbase and ample tire clearance you would expect from the 1970s. Frame craftsmanship appears excellent. The date code on the crank is 1973. This bike at Classic Rendezvous has some similar features and is allegedly from the mid-1970s, when Olmo in Italy was building the higher-end frames for Sutter.
Most of the paint on this one is good, but there is a scrape by the S on the seat tube. I can’t tell whether the dark coloration is gunk or surface rust, but there is no dent. Otherwise no significant rust or dents detected.
Seat tube is 57 cm CTC and top tube is also 57 cm CTC.
Bike is in as found condition, has not been serviced or otherwise molested. Rode like a dream on a short test ride—felt very light and responsive.
$500 $450 plus actual shipping, not shipping outside the continental US at this time. Discount possible if we don’t have to pack and ship. This is likely the only price reduction before this listing gets removed and the bike is refitted for local sale.
Campagnolo headset
Campagnolo crankset with MKS pedals
Campagnolo derailleurs and shifter levers (rear derailleur appears to be newer than the rest of the bike)
Cinelli stem and bars
Campagnolo brake levers and calipers
27.2 mm Campagnolo seatpost with scuffed white Turbo saddle
Campagnolo Record hubs with Mavic G-40 rims
This bike is offered by the Rusty Spoke bicycle collective in Phoenix.
