Oh interesting. The only reason I didn’t try Facebook is because I recently tried to sell my mom’s furniture on there and nobody wanted it even for free! I guess there’s no harm in listing and see if anyone bites. I’d just like to get a fair price for it, and it’d be nice to know that it has a new home.
furniture just doesn't sell 600 on the bike is a fair price I just got 700 for one a little nicer

Not everyone can even see Facebook, it's a "private club" and many Americans won't play by Zucks rules. Try Craigslist.
Facebook & Facebook Marketplace are two different things.
Facebook is a social media platform that allows users to create profiles, connect with others, and share content.
Facebook Marketplace is a digital marketplace that allows users to buy, sell, and trade items with others in their area. It's similar to services like eBay, Craigslist, and Amazon.

but, to see facebook mktplace, you have to have access to facebook, and many of us do not.

Some time back, I created a throwaway account on Facebook under a fictitious name (and with basically zero personal information added) so that I could see content from family members and others that could not be viewed without a login. Not a big deal, although it was definitely a little creepy to see Facebook correctly identify people I should know (and did). OTOH, it also showed me a lot of people I definitely did not know at all. Not sure which is worse: things it got right or things it got wrong.

As for FB Marketplace, I can't believe how many obvious scam ads there are, especially for cars. Definitely would not buy anything there that I could not view in person beforehand.

This thread started with questions about an Original owner MC Coppertone Fastback which is very cool, but now this thread has turned into a Friggin Facebook discussion.

Let it go !

Yea, agree it has turned into a Facebook discussion right now, but all good in my opinion as not political, or mean threads, just a bunch of rambling threads. I am not in favor of anyone "hijacking a thread" and have the topic go off way course. But this thread was started by the poster asking for advise on his bike as he was selling it. Title of post was " Want to sell my vintage Sting-Ray, need advice". So it sounds like the poster needed advise on selling the bike. In fact the poster stated the following, "Any advice on what it's worth, and where to list it (I'm assuming people sell these for local pickup only?) would be much appreciated" Seems he knew something about the bike by his post, but needed advise on price, WHERE to sell it, and how to sell it. In this day and age it is hard to give someone advise on how to sell a bike without mentioning Facebook, Craigslist, or Ebay. So by mentioning and discussing Facebook in a thread pertaining to bikes I do not see it going off the rails like many posts do. Nor is it going off the rails to discuss the bike itself which has an impact on the value of the bike of course. The original poster sold the bike which is great, so the original mission of the post was accomplished. Now if people want to discuss Facebook on this thread or nice Stingray Fastbacks is OK by me anyway. No harm no foul, it's all good in my opinion. Posting on Social Medium platforms are kind of like the Forest Gump quote. "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get"
