That's a cool ride. Again, I prefer vintage, but these are pretty well made and are capturing the look at a more affordable price ( generally) and if taken care of, should last for decades. It can't compete with the original vintage bicycles made, but it is what it is. Original is original, repro is repro. If a person wants to ride and feels original are too costly or heavy/cumbersome, it would be sad to have them sit on the sidelines. If they think they have a unique vintage ride, well no sireeee Bubba......that's a mass produced wannabe. Ha!

My Electra “Street Rod” is my go-to beach ride. The central coast of California has a mix of flat to hilly terrain and this 5-speed just makes it fun. At 25 years old a little oil and air for the original tires is all that it has needed!

I had a Coaster 3 for a bit - looked essentially like the OP's bike in question. You can get out of the saddle if you grip the bars closer to the stem. There's plenty of bar there ahead of the grips, so it wasn't a problem for me. Or better yet, swap bars to something with less pullback. A set of 5" tall riser bars like some of the BMX strandie builds have were a nice addition which smacked some of the wannabe paperboy look off the thing. Got mine cheap in black from Sunlite.

In the end, the Electra wasn't old, it wasn't light (OK, it was lighter than my Silver King, but that's not saying much), it had fat tubes (not my taste). It was also too closely related to Trek, so there's that big box stigma. I think mine was the last year or two before Trek acquired Electra, but most think of them all as a Trek product. I got it because I was curious about the foot forward geometry, and it was cheap since it wasn't engaging first gear (just needed an adjustment to the Nexus cable tension). I rode it over a winter, and sold it when I downsized my fleet. Once I got it shifting right, it gave me zero trouble. Ride it, if you like it, what's $100?

The forward bottom bracket is nice for a taller person (5' 10" plus) as it allows for lower seat height. These are good basic cruisers. My last one I got for $110 and it had a Nexus 3spd, but the bike was kinda rough. I swapped the wheel set out for 1 speed, cleaned it up, serviced it, and sold it for $90.

I think they’re incredibly comfortable. The design is great for cruising around the boardwalk, not so great for climbing pretty much anything. I happen to own two of the sample bikes Trek purchased to see how they could skirt the patent. Of course, they couldn’t so they bought the company. 🤷‍♂️
