Girlbike

Finally riding a big boys bike
Door hinges attached to the pedal?! Or is a Simpson Strong Tie metal framing connector? 🤣
It's a hose clamp holding a piece of sheet metal I punched holes into to the other side. It's got those slippery, worn, original block pedals. My very first bike had them, my six year old shin got destroyed once when I slipped off.

Looks like a hose clamp to keep the center tube from splitting(further?).
The center tube is fine. Neither even spun inside. They were pretty stiff when I got the bike. I dosed it with gear lube and spun them by hand forever until they freed up.

I was thinking it was to keep the blocks from spinning. Those old-style pedals are annoying.
No, the blocks never spun. It's got on a set of horrible plastic pedals (with bearings!) On her now. There's only one thing to do now, a nice long text drive! Looks like the junkyard gal is going out next time I ride!

Bike from the Dead

Wore out three sets of tires already!
I'm back in Arlington, Texas house and pet-sitting for my brother and sister-in-law again. This morning was the coolest it's ever going to be this week, so I took advantage of it and rode my 1961 Murray Meteor Flite, Shoestring, on the trails in and around the neighborhood. I ended up riding Shoestring 11 miles this morning! I would have gone further too, except the edges of the seat pan were trying to cut into my backside, and I was getting saddle sores as a result. Overall though, it was a blast riding this bike through the trees, watching planes land and take off nearby, checking out the sights, and even observing the occasional bit of wildlife.
