As said I have no idea how to decipher the Monark/Sears ID tag & not sure how this bike was originally equipped but tank, rims, bars & set are not og to this bike, probably had lobdell style rims & U bars, just pulled it out of the shed to sell. If I go by the Sears catalog reprint book ONLY Monark shown is a 1950 24in. standard, someone may know but I'm not sure. What on your tag makes yours a 51 and what does that make mine?

The A-1,097,295 serial number falls within the same range as that, circa 1951, for other (Western Auto) bikes, on the ABC list.

The ABC list, or rather the Western Auto list of serial numbers, for some Western Flyer bicycles, as re-printed by a member of the CABE, known as ABC Services, is helpful to those who may wish to look up the years of their bicycles, based on the serial numbers.

And there is another less-accurate list, for Monark bikes, based on reverse-engineering (or synonymous terms), that has also been published. In hindsight, that made-up list is not as good; and its creator likely would have welcomed any confirming or correcting information.

Not sure about Sears catalog numbers or model numbers; e.g., is 279 the model number, and if so, was that number reflected in a Sears catalog, or other documents, and if so, for which year, or years?
Similar for a model 2 … 69E (original post)?
