WTB: Fork for my 1942 G519 Huffman Tribute Bike

-

Michael Boyd

Finally riding a big boys bike
Hi All,
Trying to get my tribute bike ready for the Veterans Day parade and hit a snag. The fork I was going to use is a 1/2 inch too long on the threads, plus it does not have the built in truss supports that the Huffman ones have.
The bike I’m using is a 1941 Hawthorne and the fork it has would be ok, but really would not look correct.
What I need is a fork with:
Overall length of 22 1/4 inches
A 6 inch post on the fork
1 1/4 inch thread on the post
Preferably “built in” Truss supports (but if not, at least like the red one pictured below with no truss supports with the sizes above,

Any suggestion of what to use etc or if someone has what I need , I’d love to get it ASAP
Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,
The "post on the fork" is called the "steerer tube". If I am understanding you correctly, the thredas extend further down the fork then you need them to. If this is the case, it is not a problem. If you need more threads, I, or hopefully someone closer to you can cut them down further.
Chris

I have a fork like you posted with longer steer tube. I don't believe that is correct for Huffman though. I also have a ladies Huffman fork that I could modify.

Any resolution here? I am confused. Are you trying to add or subtract tube length or thread depth? Any of this can be done.
