This is a working Benjamin Electric model H9 Submarine dive klaxon. Date of manufacture is 06-08-1942. The body is all cast bronze, even the horn and cover plate. It would look great cleaned up and polished, or leave it battleship gray Runs off of 115VAC. I have hot wired it and it is really loud. I've threatened to wire it up to summon my teenage daughter, but the joke has gotten old. Would make a great doorbell or to amuse/irritate the neighbors. It weighs 15.5 pounds and I will ship it out in a small cooler. $300.00 plus actual shipping from San Francisco, CA. PayPal strongly preferred. If you have any questions, just ask. AAA OOOOH GAAA, dive, dive dive! Full disclosure, these were also used on shore and on surface ships as stop firing alarms, etc. FedEx Ground to the East coast was a little under 50.00 by their calculator.

I was on the Atule SS 403 for 2 1/2 years and have heard that sound hundreds of times during exercises.

Loud klaxon sound- watch Run Silent, Run Deep. Like a Ford Model A Horn but a lot more obnoxious. Here is a link:

I haven't figured out how to post this horn on the web, but if you are really interested I could play it for you over the phone. I actually thought the Navy dive command was "Dive! Dive! All Dive!" but that was actually from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. According to fleet sub online, the standard US Navy order was a much more sober "Dive, dive, dive"

The first link you sent me did not allow me to access, said it was forbidden. Anyhow I will probably have to pass on the horn. Good luck with the sale.

Probably a hot link problem- to get to the sound through the site go to:

Scroll down to
Authentic US Navy Alarm Sounds Archive, hit the link and scroll down to:
Submarine -Diving Alarm Benjamin Electric H-9 mechanical horn and hit that for the .wav file

The Officer on deck says: lookouts below, clear the bridge, dive dive then operates the dive alarm twice and then he is down the hatch.
