1962 Schwinn Corvette 5 speed (edited 6/24/25).

Thank you to everyone who sent me private messages with details about the bike! I really appreciate it.

Here's a1962 Schwinn Corvette 5 speed, H276930. I put new tires on it, new cables and housing, a NOS rear reflector, and pedals. I have the original pedals but did not want to open them up quite yet to repack them. I did repack the the bottom bracket and wheel hubs. I also had the original hubs and rims relaced. I rode it late fall and early this summer, but it is just too small for me.

Asking $650. Local pick up in Salt Lake City would be ideal, but as I saw someone post on the CABE recently, I can ship for $200. If shipping comes up less, I'll refund the difference. Just to note: I have shipped bikes before.

You and me both. There was a (now known) late 61, 5 speed, posted on here in March for $2000.

The bike that sold for 2k was 100% original.

To assist anyone checking out this bike for originality, the following is needed for it to be 100% original:

1. The freewheel is possibly incorrect without close up pics. It’s supposed to say huret made in France on the outside of the inner ball bearing race.
2. Freewheel guard, the one on there is the common later version which started in 63/64 ish.
3. Early Huret alveit derailleur
4. Sunburst badge
5. Early pumpkin headlight
6. Grey brake lines
7. As mentioned in the ad, the pedals

The freewheel guard and freewheel being the hardest parts to get because they’re usually only sold with complete bikes. There’s also a spacer that goes between the original freewheel and freewheel guard (I believe not needed with the later version guard on the bike).

If really desired I can remove this post, it’s not my intention to diss the seller or try to say xyz bad thing. My intention is to help a potential buyer know what they’re getting.

Big difference from 3 to 5 speed as far as desierability and availability

If the small frame size is keeping you from enjoying the bike, i put on a extra long seat post with a steel rod inside on my 61 Panther so it wouldnt bend. I also put on a higher set of bars. I'm 5'10" and its very comfortable now

Geez. Can you put both your feet flat on the ground when you’re sitting on the seat?

I'm 5 10 as well, fits me ok. 160 miles so far this year.

A custom 3 speed and an original 5 speed aren’t even in the same zip code price wise.
