has the 'electro ridge' on the BB.. nails it down to a 5 year span I think.. 46-51..

Here's a 1943 BB shell @billyjones .. The Schwinn BB seam continued until Schwinn shut the Chicago factory completely down in 1983.

@GTs58 has convinced me that the sudden restrictions due to the war combined with the development of new features for the post-war bikes left the serial numbers pretty well scrambled. I'm guessing that when production ramped up again the first priority was just to clear the backlog. Most numbers follow a rough sequence but there are some glaring exceptions, especially just post-war.
