Look Ma, No Hands!
For Sale: Elgin Deluxe? or Sports? Boys Bicycle

Price: $1299 or best offer
Location: Ephrata, PA 17522

  • Good overall condition but far from perfect
  • I believe it has original or mostly original paint
  • Chrome is lacking on the handlebars & not great overall
  • Stewart-Warner Floating front hub
  • Surfboard / gothic chain guard
  • No headlight
  • New Departure rear hub
  • Original Troxel black seat
  • Right reflector on pedal is cracked, left reflector missing
  • Bends, dents, & chips including luggage rack and rear fender
  • Chrome tank in good overall condition. Horn is untested
  • Schwinn studded tires have dry rot
  • Missing reflector on rear fender

I’m definitely no Elgin expert so keep this in mind!
The bike is a nice rider but I have not ridden extensively. It has NOT been serviced. Tires should be replaced if you are planning to ride it much.
I am including a photo of the Sear’s ad that states maroon/white & chrome tank were original options.
While it does not have the long tank, it is possible that deluxe bikes were made at several factories. Long vs short tanks may have depended on which factory shipped the bike (per @Nostalgic Dave).

I’ll post a pic of the inside of the tank shortly.
Pickup preferred but shipping is possible through a local bike shop.

Hi @Kelloggkid

A very nice bicycle, Thanks for the detailed photos.

Westfield F156612/H8. Frame made in August 1941 and built up in September 1941.

The new owner will be very happy with this, last of the pre WW2 bikes.

Best Regards,

Adrian
