Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
Here's a little cutie from way back in the 20th century, year 1953. Fully restored 20" deluxe Schwinn cantilever bicycle. Everything done from ground up..
single stage paint (no clear phony shine BS), rechromed, renickeled, recadmium plated parts. Restored "Coroseal"
deluxe 20" saddle... NOS badge... extremely htf brass white background Schwinn oval..amazed that I actually Had one!
I would have to say everything you see on this build is original vintage Schwinn parts, cept the tubes of course.
Junior Rocket Ray, original non-repro tank, guard etc. NOS Deluxe 20" ballooner pedals, NOS black grips, NOS
Typhoon Tires. Again... a very time intensive build and a costly one. Purchased the tank years ago for stupid money..
now the repop ones have, as usual, killed the value of originals.. Always loved this color combo and was stoked to
see the thread of these colored bikes here and the most recent pic of a 20" identical. At the time of restoration...
I was unsure if Schwinn ever cranked one out in this color combo... I was also unsure about the rear panel
on the guard...black or all green. Pix uploaded confirmed what I had already chosen to do, blindly, without a
reference point. lol.
A bike that hopefully remains looking like this for eternity as an example of how Americas most successful
bicycle companys' bikes looked when they rolled into and out of showrooms.
