I would have to assume so. There was something going on with stormy archer and all the way into 59 and 60 when the Austrian hubs took over for a year more than what it was supposed to.
That black bike is pre 59. Have you ever seen a pre 59 Vette with anything other than SA?
 
Here's a 1957 Traveler. Yes I have seen many that didn't have a SA hub. Like I said, SA was having some production issues. There is a Reporter sheet here somewhere that explains the situation and some details. This Traveler has the Austrian hub.

if I remember right, Sturmeys problem started in 58. they were re-engineering a hub and were not gonna be available for some months, but it ran into a lot longer than that. I never got into the real details other than that and I’ve seen Brampton hubs on Corvettes. when your suppliers can’t supply, you gotta do what you gotta do.
