Yeah, I did and countered with $300 but no dice. It's all right, I know the parts are valuable but at $500 any gains look razor thin and the hassle high. Best to let this one sail by.
I’d have had to walk away from that one too. Makes ya wonder though if they took it off some sweet jumps or took it to the skate park and dropped in the bowl or something. Weird break. Even more weird of a “fix” 😬
More forward progress - brake pads, cable housing, pedals and chain installed. Headset and crank bearings adjusted. I’ll adjust the brakes tomorrow then take it to the shop downtown for the missing 3 speed shift chain and any final work.
I go back and forth on which one to keep. After wrenching on this one tonight I’m more and more stoked about it.
Really happy with how this one turned out. There are some spots on the rear S2 and handlebars where the chrome has flaked off but overall I feel this shows quite well. Maybe down the road I can find nicer parts to swap in but overall it's a good lookin' rider.
The local shop got me a new shifter cable, a nicer pulley (the original was chipped) and a shift chain for the hub. I'm ready for some unsalted roads and warm days for a test ride!
