Finally riding a big boys bike
Hello,
I put this American made OM Flyer together a couple of years ago. It has literally been sitting in my garage ever since. I love the bike, but shortly after I built it up, my youngest daughter got strep throat, which became rheumatic fever, which became an extended hospital stay, learning to walk again etc. Now she has a heart specialist, infectious disease specialist and an immunologist since we later found out she was born with compromised IgE, which is part of your immune system and the reason her strep became such a serious issue. I say all that to say I really don't want to sell the bike. However, she has some medical expenses and she started dancing competitively as a way to build strength, her heart and exercise daily etc. Anyone who knows anything about competitive dance knows it's extremely expensive.
I'm hoping to trade/sell the bike so I can pay for her summer dance camps and still have something to build. A guy on the BMX Museum site who is very knowledgeable about SE and its history told me the f/f and a set of American made (90s) Redline cranks I have are worth at least $2200. The cranks are not on this bike, they're in a box. They're in very nice shape, but they're not NOS.
Please feel free to ask questions, send private messages etc. and I'll do my best to get to them ASAP.
The bike as it's currently built includes:
'94 f/f
SE handlebars
new Cane Creek headset
new Paul brakes (front and rear)
NOS at time of build Araya 7x rims
Campy hubs
Campy cranks (175mm)
new
True Torch seat clamp
TNT inverted stem
new MKS bear trap pedals
Brooks saddle
It has Kenda tires that will need to be replaced, because like I said, the bike has been sitting for a couple of years.
I'm hoping to get a cool f/f to build a cheaper klunker/bmx bike and cash for my daughter's summer dance camps. My ideal f/f is a '36 c model. OG paint isn't necessary. I'll look at other f/f too and the amount of cash will depend on what f/f is included.
