Cjell Mone's bike doesn't quite meet the Cantilever criteria, but holy crap, check out the tire clearance, stand over height, and wishbone joint at the BB!

It’s a provocative bike and clearly it has canti roots. It’s amazing to see the form being pushed so far, but when you are a renowned frame maker, it’s no surprise.

Here are few pics of legit Schwinn cantilever klunkers being ridden in the birth of mountain biking era. Many of these pics are featured in @repackrider Charlie Kelly's book Fat-Tire Flyer. Wende Cragg took many of these photos and they can also be found in this great article she wrote about the birth of mountain biking at The Radavist site.

Got my JTT fork yesterday and went to the studio tonight for more assembly. Treated the raw polished fork with Rust Prevention Magic and seated the crown race with some PVC pipe.

V brake posts on the fork for this klunker.

Reissue Nitto MX-2 stem. When @GTs58 picked it up the other day he said, “well, you blew your whole weight budget there”. 🤣 It’s chunky cool!

Mocked up the reissue Nitto B721 chro-mo handlebars I plan to use and threw the seat post clamp on. I need to cut the fork threads down 3/16” to get the headset nut to tighten all the way down. A new band was practicing in the studio tonight. Nice guys.

Worked last night and today on the Sunburn. Took a few threads off the top of the fork using this donor headset cone as the hacksaw guide and thread chaser.

Added the chain today, along with the F&S click shifter and cabling to the rear hub.

I cruised around the hood with no seat to check it out. Front V-brakes are very powerful. Shifting is smoother than my Columbia 3-speed. Can't wait to get the seat post and go for a ride.

Wald seat post came today and I attached the Brooks B72 and went for a ride.

It’s a fantastic riding bike and pretty light for a Klunker. It accelerates and brakes really quickly. The 3-speed shifts super cleanly and the tires are silent even at speed. I’m happy with the way it turned out.
