As said started life as a Standard June 64, before OG 3 spd were available, the kids dad ( or whoever ) laced a dated 1957 SA 3 spd, 36 spoke probably from a 26” bike, as for the “ ridiculous” guard most of this bike has some of the nicest brightest flamboyant lime paint I have ever had and have never polished or cleaned, just wiped with a soft dry cloth, such a shame for some reason the top bar’s paint was rubbed off😢, I think that’s a black plastic collar under the pulley not tape as I remember and the cables pretty taught so doesn’t flop around but I need to put on one of those little clear plastic sleeves to protect the paint. I have never taken the tape off the top bar but you can see some silver undercoat paint & bare metal where the tape won’t go any further because of the lower bars, also shadow in the tape of the missing paint line, I have never touched the front axle but looks like something has been done.

mrg,

Nice explanation.

Yes, that factory Original Lime paint and especially the screen is absurd since so much custom work was done to this bike you wonder how it survived. Even the fork looks very nice.
Shame about the top tube …. weird.

Do you have any photos of the LH side of this ‘64 ?

Don’t know why my mom had me hold the dog (Tammy) for the before school pic with her Kodak Instamatic, I guess a 2 for 1 shot and didn’t even thing about the “ money shot “ drive side shot but I guess I’m guilty as most for taking mostly guard side shots, @60sstuff only found 1 half left side shot with my present lime lineup F4 Standard, H4 SD, LA 2 spd.

As said don’t know about its life but I don’t think the guy I bought it from took any extra protection in its 500 mi. trip from Reno NV. To Long Beach Ca., now that I look at the 3 spd cable/guard I wonder if that’s why the glass reflector placed where it is.
