'67 or '68 Schwinn Fastback?

Hi folks,

Picked up this old boy a couple of days ago. It has a MC serial number which date codes to Dec 1967 but I am wondering if it is an early model '68. It appears to original throughout. I am thinking a '67 would have had rat trap pedals and this one has bow pedals. The crank is stamped 67 and it has Two Arrow pedals.

I realize parts were carried over from one year to the next in inventory and are not necessarily definitive for determining the catalog year.

Any thoughts on what year this might be would be appreciated!

@bikemonkey I would think a Dec. serial would most likely be the next years model. But quite a few '67 items on there. Being late '67 serial would make sense that as an early '68 it would have what '67 parts that were left over. Like said you really cant always count on that for dating as they used what they had.

Likely a 68 model. 68 was the first year for the mylar strips on the seat. Rat trap pedals were only used on Ramshorn Fastbacks. Your pedals are 66 model bow pedals.

A frame with a December stamped serial number was definitely built the next year. Depending on the actual date the serial was stamped on the component and current supply of stamped components there is a very small chance only the frame was built in December. This is a slow production time with the December shut down that includes the holidays thru the 1st of the year. I have L1, November 61 serial numbered frames and they were equipped with 1962 stamped cranks.
