1st pic is my 48 Packard DX.. I use WD40 on it, on a rag.. fine steel wool sometimes.. steel wool on the spokes.. fine steel wool on the rims..
I love the patina look.. but yours has life left in the paint.

I just hit up my 50 something Manton Smith (2nd pic) with some rubbing compond, polishing compond & then carnuba wax.. BUT after I apply the wax, instead of removing it, I then put coconut oil on a dry rag. an I use that coconut oil rag to remove the wax.. Let the coconut oil sit a week or so.. will look new.

Nice survivor and all solid advice from our trusty members. The serial number will confirm the year but with the early 3/8” truss rods, plains trains badge, and what appears to be an AS 6000 crank arm and non knurled S-2 rims, for fun, I’ll throw in a guess as a 1948 model.

Of course the badge, rods and crank were also common to 46 and 47 so the rims may be revealed as flat top Lobdel’s which spilled over from the 41 model year😁

I find it unlikely that the D model rear carrier was original to the bike in place of a 6 hole B model but you never know🥸

When you find time to snap a photo of the serial number, get one of the kickstand and a close up of the rim surface.

I hope im correct here Wolfmac, but if its a 48, the wheels will be center stamped & non knurled?
