Since I first posted this bike, I've seen a couple more pop up on the internet. Evidently they originally came with a fender light and a rear rack, which were both missing on mine. Here's one that was on FBM in Pennsylvania, but it sold before I had a chance to go look at it. Oh well.

Looks like mine are also missing the rack, front fender and light. What did this bike sell for? Pretty cool looking bike.

Great middle weight rider is one of my favorites
Good luck with the purchase.
Enjoy

I know this is an old post, but i need to find some of those wheel disc/ spoke protectors so any one having an extra pair i would like to purchase some. Also looking for a front fender/light and rear rack. Mine also has the Starider sprocket. Thanks. Mark.

The 1959 catalog shows two Skyriders, the version with the tank (at the beginning of this thread) and this tankless version (and no rack or light either), with two different model numbers but the same name. You would think they would have called the first one "Deluxe Skyrider". I may have a 1959 price list, but I'll have to look.

I've got a '54 Shelby, and it says "Cleveland" on the head badge so I think AMF moved them to Cleveland after they bought them. This bike says "Little Rock" on the head badge so it's a safe guess that's where it was built. It just struck me as odd that this one doesn't say "Roadmaster" (or "Shelby" either), just "Skyrider". I think this one looks better than the catalog version.
I just took the flashlight out to the garage, the seatpost decal on my Shelby says AMF,Cleveland, OH.

From what I've seen, they moved Shelby to Cleveland as soon as they bought them and then turned right around and moved them again to Little Rock. It must have played havoc with production. Which probably helps to explain why after 1957 the biggest difference between a Shelby and a Roadmaster is the badge.

I had to dig for a photo...from when I first got it.

Rims are placeholders from a Murray. The originals were mangled. I've since picked up another set with the drop edge. It needs EVERY part on it straightened, except for maybe the tank.

It may need some work, but that one's worth it. The paint looks like with just a little attention it will be beautiful again!

Yeah, I think I've got most of the parts it needed now but most importantly, I've got the tooling to get the frame and handlebars straight. I just need to get the other projects out of the way now.
