There was a lot of history connected with Bob Hansing and his son Dennis Hansing at the Montrose location. Bob was one of the local valley area Schwinn Dealers that organized the efforts to build the Encino Velodrome which was at that time the only bicycle track west of the Mississippi River. When you look at the Schwinn Consumer catalogs from the 1960's and 70's all of the Paramount track bike photos were shot at the Encino Velodrome. He was part of the group of dealers that imported Mondia bikes and was a major Paramount dealer. At one point he was the President of Shimano American. Eventually he turned the upstairs warehouse part of the Montrose building into Euro-Asia Imports and distributed all kinds of "hard to source" cycling gear to other dealers. It was Dennis Hansing that told me the retaining wall in the rear parking lot used Schwinn Balloon Frames for the rebar inside of the poured cement. In time, I guess everything changes.
