Finally riding a big boys bike
A lot of times this is parked at the city library with a cheap lock attached to the rack. It might be used by one of the homeless people that hang out during the day there. Anyways, what year do you say it is. From the bike registration tag it is a mid 1970's. Not that the bike is worth any money, just wondering how this one survived.

It's a very clean bike. My guess is that it is not much older than the 1976-77 license tag. Looks like it has a Shimano 3-speed hub - were it a Sturmey Archer, the month/year is usually stamped into the hub shell.

I know next to nothing about Huffys of this vintage. It's possible the year could be determined by the serial number, but obtaining that from a bike that is not yours could be awkward, at best. 😉

the "mag" chainwheel is somewhat of a helpful dating aid

next time you see it see if you can get an image of the serial

should be on lateral face of non-driveside dropout

a serial beginning in "HC" would indicate a machine constructed at the Celina Ohio plant

cycle licenses are typically issued for a term of three years

if "76-77" is an expiry time that would tend to indicate an an issuance round about 1973

sometimes the employment of a light duty lock can indicate the cycle is a decoy placed there by law enforcement...

Well, after the early Spring snowstorm we had here, the bike sat under three feet of snow for a few days, so the bicycle was tagged by the police and it has not been seen in the last few weeks. It must have been a homeless guys bike. Pretty cool bike but pretty worthless too, being I have enough bikes as is and the market for these types is just about nil.
