Colnago Super ? Rare 1975 TDF Race Team Built Bike
All Campagnolo Nuovo Record ? Campy and Colnago logos everywhere! Columbus Tubing frame. Selle Strada seat (not shown). Durex Pro rims.
This is a very unique bike. It was built for an episode of Wide World of Sports on July 26, 1975 as part of the show's Tour de France coverage. It was a segment that featured a team rider (I do not know who this was, but he would have had to be able to speak passable English) riding the bike while being interviewed from a moving car. The bike was supposedly ridden for a total of 45 minutes and was then was given as a gift to the ABC Wide World of Sports segment producer who then brought it back to the U.S. and displayed it in his New York office for 25 years in a glass case!! I bought the as-new bike from his son in 2004.
I only really used the bike on two occasions. First on vacation as a conversation piece at the Concorso Italiano car show in Monterey in '04 where I swear at one point I had a crowd of 10 Colnago fans ogling the bike and totally ignoring two new Ferrari Enzos on display 20 feet away! Second, I rode the LA Marathon in March of 2005, and the bike has been sitting inside my house ever since. I out new tires on it for the Marathon, but I still have the original, barley used sew-ups.
I was told by a couple former "Colnago sponsored" racers (?) who saw the bike at the Concorso Italiano that it has some rare pieces, including some race team-only lightened bits on it. One of these guys said the bike should be worth $10,000, too! (If he's right, I'm going to be pissed!).
Chance to own a totally one-of-a-kind bike!!
$2500 or obo.
I'm not set up to do shipping, but I can drop off at a bike shop who might ship it for you (or a shipping company).

I'm in Los Angeles, btw. (and the bike is on Ebay starting 8/9).
