I bought one a few months ago on ebay, it must be an early Pete seat, the color is a dead match to my original pea seats. The only trouble is, I hate the tuck on the nose, or am I being too picky? I wonder if Joe Crawford could fix it for me? I think I will ask him, or should I not bother with it?

My opinion is. Leave Well Enough Alone.

Beautiful Pete Pea Picker Krate Seat ... 1970 seat pan ... smooth sides ... leave it be!

Thanks for the advice guys, now if I could find the time to detail the sweet pea picker I bought over a year ago.
Jammer, just a notice that the shouldered washers on the seat post clamp are not on correct, the washers should be on the inside in order to swivel.

Thanks Greg, I will change them for sure, I would probably have not noticed it, everything goes over my head seems like.

Yeah, definitely a Pete seat with that gold Genuine Authentic Schwinn sticker. I think that sticker came about after he worked out licensing obstacles.

I wish I had taken pictures of some of the horrendous original seats we took apart years ago....wrinkles/folds in all sections of the seats, very crooked stripes, perfectly centered stripes, splotches in the stripes, unbent securing tabs, mis-stamped holes, crooked tags, tags pulled through in the rivet process, misplaced foam...
I think its safe to say that when covering a seat, the nose is the worst part to have to worry about. You're cramming a lot of extra material into a tight radius and there will always be some wrinkles. It just takes some planning and massaging to space them out evenly enough to be ok to look at. The wrinkles don't always end up perfect...just like in the original Persons process.
Wrinkles that have been crimped in place by the pan...they don't always smooth out, so yeah it would be best left in place.
