Finally riding a big boys bike
F/S - Oct '63 Schwinn Sting Ray - Even though it has some issues, how many rider '63 projects come available???
Original paint was obviously stripped years back! The (8-3) fork has been cut down + bored to accept correct larger diameter stem. Kickstand housing has been rewelded in place + is solid.
The Schwinn S2 + S7 are both center stamped w/ proper hubs. Both are solid riders, but each shows an area of pitting after Evapo bath. No noticeable dings in S7, but kick side of S2 has some noticeable dings. Both spin true.
Rear Carlisle (11-3) is good shape w/ only few cracks . Westy (8-3) is ruff + probably not rideable. Including a (6-3) dated June '73 rideable Westy (see pics).
The polo is a decent original Persons w/o rear tag. Appears solid for riding. The original non crimp Persons /Patent Pending stamped strut is solid, but very ruff. New reflector bracket + two pie 1 1/2" reflector installed.
The bars are original '63/64 Schwinn in decent shape w/ some light pitting.
The included pedals are incorrect short/narrow version. Bike does have a non Chicago headbadge.
Price is $1250 plus insured ship. Possible trade on nice/good '64/65 original paint frameset.
