The Fastest Bicycle Rider in the World:
The Story of a Coloured Boy's Indomitable Courage and Success Against Great Odds

By Marshall Walter "Major" Taylor (1878 -1932)
Published by Wormley Publishing Company, Worcester, MA 1928

It is moving to realize that, Major Taylor, world-wide cycling champion, had been reduced to selling these self published books door-to-door in the last 4 years of his life, to eke out a subsistence. The quantity printed is not known but it was not a large number...

Book exterior: Original cloth boards with tooled gilt lettering. Front cover has traces of lightness/stain across part of the letters, faint wrinkles and small blemish center bottom edge. The rear cover has faint wrinkles. Binding still well attached and no "biffs" See pics.

    Book interior:
printed pages & pictures are 100%, no marks, stains, turned edges, perfect. Slight sepia tinting on perimeter of pages. Very nice.

Currently online there are a few books available for $800.

A book with paper dust jacket goes waaay up in $$$!

I am asking $600 PPD CONUS
    Thanks
    Dale
