Jerry Peters of Chestnut Hollow in Almont, Michigan has your headlight assembly.
I was first to restore these Mercury bicycles in the 1970s and have owned several over the years. I reproduced the axle caps in the 1970s. One of my Mercurys was displayed for a lengthy period at the
Oakland Museum in Oakland, California. Many "histories" of these bicycles today repeat the information from that exhibit (which is posted on–dare I say it– NBHAA.com). However today's "histories" seem to accidentally-on-purpose fail to attribute the source. Of course I have original literature for
all versions (including the
Good Year versions) and factory artwork from the designer.
Here are three of my own
original headlight/horn assemblies photographed in 1981 (count up the years). These are all
originals, not repops.
People (including today's experts and those doing "restorations") don't know the differences (and I did not discuss them in the Oakland Museum exhibit), but here is the into... so now you'll know...
