Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
I can’t seem to find the thread but lots of discussion about weather or not the HD frames had extra brazing added. @irideiam took some bashing when he stated they were, I see on my 1980 it clearly has been added at the canti bar ends but not at the seat post like my KSHD. Im guessing the failure was more often at the bar ends so they only added it there. Anyone with a later HD please look for the extra brazing on yours and post some pics.

After the frame was spot resistance welded, they received the extra brazing on the down tubes.

Some also received the extra brazing under the seat stays to the seat tube.

I never saw any "consistency in what "extra was done" and what dates "they did what",

In my opinion, I wrote warranty replacements for more beach cruiser frames than I ever did for Heavy Duti frames. Maybe the percentage was the same and we just sold many more beach cruisers.

Cruisers and Heavy Duti frames were "basically the same", different colors and some had different brake bridges.

Lots of these frames were sold under the custom paint color program

From what I've noted is the cantilever bars were raised up higher at the seat tube area, so the cantilever bar could also be EF to the top tube. Prior to doing that the HD frames had brazing at the seat tube.

Both my '59 Wasp and '77 Spitfire were outfitted as paper bikes, including 10g spoked wheels, large diameter front hubs, wide news delivery handlebars, and news bag guards on the front wheels. The Wasp has the reinforcement welds under the seat stays to the seat tube, but the Spitfire does not.

FWIW anecdotal examples.

Can we see a pic of the news bag guards?
