never assume that a shipping company has someone who can ship something safely. I read about a guy who bought a plaster 1950 Studebaker, made for Studebaker back in the day. rare to say the least if not one of a kind. it was like 2-3 feet long. UPS or FED EX (??) put it in a box full of peanuts and it was broken to bits by the time he got it.
