Here is what the head tube looks like that these badges fit. (photo credit @my560sec)

That makes for a nice clean fitment. But it does put the factory placement of the head badge before the
final install of the forks and neck, etc. This could lead to potentially damaging the head badge down stream
in the assembly. Not cost efficient in the long run as it slows production just a little. And once it's busted
off no kid is going to re-attach it that way at home, so most of those were tossed. Which adds to the rarity
of the item. Very nice. Wonder how many have slipped from my hand over the years without even knowing it.
Now I'm educated. 🤓 And a little less noob-like. Thank you.

These just didn't bust off. They are very secure and it takes some dooing to remove one of these without damage. I'm not sure how much it affected efficiency though. I'd like to see the mechanism they used to attach these. I assume it had to be some sort of large rivet squeezer.

One would think the bottle cap badge could be more efficient. Did manufacturers put on the two screw badge version on last? It would seem adding any badge before a truss rod fork was applied would make sense. Does anyone know?

Hi Brant @New Mexico Brant

It's probably the exception, but since this is the Military bit. (-:

It always surprised me that the Columbia G519 badge was applied to the frame before painting. If you remove an original bedge, there will be bare metal behind it.

I don't know if this is the case for Huffmans, does anyone here know?

Best Regards,

Adrian
