Finally riding a big boys bike
I know by now that there are many experts here on The Cabe when it comes to the bikes older than the century mark. Here is my 1925 Columbia that is beginning to come back together. I am posting this here to see if anyone wants to throw a guess as to what the original head badge may have been. The frame is a "C" stamped Columbia. Every early Columbia I have seen online has a traditional Columbia shaped circular badge with the screw holes at 9 and 3. The typical later small Columbia head badges are similar in size but the holes in the few I have here are on a 2 1/4" spacing. This one has holes at 12 and 6 and they are exactly 2 3/16" apart. Hopefully the close up photos show that what appears in whats left of the original paint seems to show what originally was there was shield shaped, crowned at the top and coming to a point at the bottom, with a horizontal bar going across it. It does not appear to have had an angled bar as in a traditional Columbia badge. The lack of the head badge is not going to slow down the reassembly of this old girl, but any input at all would be appreciated! Thank you very much for your time - Perry in NH USA

Thanks very much for the post. Yes, this is what I, and probably most anyone who looks at that frame, would think is what was originally on it...its the 12 and 6 screw holes that throw that all off. I sure agree that the ghost that remains sure looks like a standard Columbia badge like what is in your photo. Thanks again for your response! Much appreciated!

Thanks to all who contacted me about this head badge question. Scott had this badge on ebay and I decided to grab it. It will cover the 12 and 6 existing screw holes and I will just drill and tap a few new ones to mount it. Thanks Scott.

yep. gotta be. with a diagonal similar logo
Hoping at some point some one will see this thread and think to themselves "hey! I have that badge" and contact me. Until then the frame waits for that moment. The Columbia badge above that I got from Scott is too small and does not cover the holes. Not a big deal. It's on the shelf here for me to stare at. Patience! Thanks very much for your input!
