thanks for posting this! 😉

Ildenfonso Soler was the name of an Uruguayan cycling champion of the 1940's era

many machines with his name were produced in his native Uruguay

do not know who produced the Italian ones

have one of the Italian headplates in me collection as well, it appears slightly earlier than subject example but have no image of it

I wonder if I. Soler bikes were sold in Italy, or were just manufactured there for the South American market. Motorcycles/scooters were also carrying the marque.

To further confuse the issue, here is an assumed French I. Soler badge:

Cicli Robur; Padova (est. circa 1953; trademark applied for in 1951. Founded by Frederico Torresini, son of Carlo Torresini [Torpado founder]. Not sure of the signifance of the mounted cavaliere; not part of Torresini or Padova crests.)

have your researches learned the meaning/origin of the robur term/name?

it caught me attenzione earlier when you posted about it the first time

had not heard of it previously in connection with cycles yet know it from another source

there is a manufacturer in the Veneto well known for coffee grinders with the brand name of Mazzer

about fifteen year back they introduced a new topline commercial model called the Robur

word does not appear in me Italiano-Inglese dictionario

@juvela I don't think I had posted the "Robur" badge until this most recent submission (you might be confusing with the "Rubino" badge?).
Robur in Latin is oak, thus strength.

thank you!

evidently just me rusty "memory" playing tricks again 🤨

thank you also for the francese Ildefonso Soler

had wished to put that in me post as well but memory so faint was not sure correct so omitted rather than make an additional error

about fifteen year back searched out some biographical information on him. iirc other family members involved in cycling as well. a portion of his pro career took place in Italy, hence the headplates from the land
