So if I took your frame and your fork and took all the other stuff off my bike, would I have a complete chrome plated Flightliner bike? I've already removed the incorrect paint from the chain guard. This bike had one non-chrome wheel. Apparently a previous owner could not find another chrome wheel, so he found a painted wheel and painted it "chrome." Then he proceeded to paint EVERY piece that was chrome with the same paint. At least everything matched. That "Chrome " paint has now been removed from everything. Nice chrome under the old paint. I came up with a chrome rim and a correct black seat. So now I'm down to repainting the red and reassembling. Or perhaps looking into your frame and fork. Can you post a picture of everyting you have?

I have what you see in the pic and the crankset. Only the frame #4618, main bearings and moving parts of the fork are original. I have had a lot of fun riding it as a Spyder Wanna-be with a Shimano 5 speed drive train. It takes 24" tires. I tried a 26 and it wouldn't fit. 1196074

When you said frame, I thought that you meant bare. Nice bike. Does the springer fork give you any more of a "comfortable" ride?

I think it's time to look for the matching paint for mine.

Hopefully it will look like this when I'm finished. Still looking for a tank, though.

It was just a frame, fork (mortally damaged) chain guard (shown in the pic. I doubt it is original) and crank set.
The rat trap fork worked ok (after repairs), but was sprung too soft. It would get stuck in the fully compressed position (keep in mind that I had to move the suspended part of the fork forward in order to make a no-weld repair).
-I finally screwed in a huge bolt to lock the fork in the extended position. I have considered adding s helper spring, like maybe a leaf spring to the fork.
I think the rat trap fork in stock trim, would work much better than mine.
Flightliners look great when complete. There are quite a few parts required for a complete tank.

67 stingray - I think you will get answers to your question if you post it in general
discussion, middle weight bikes or balloon tire bikes (or all three). This thread will attract mostly flight liner and spaceliner folks, and I think you may have something else. That is a nice tank on it.
