Maybe you guys should start a new thread elsewhere for this.....

Jim is the Norcal king of swaps. A staple in the bike hobby. This thread should stay his for his swap. Not a discussion about another swap elsewhere.

There are a few other norcal swaps that actually happen.... people just don't bother to show up and sell. Marin, Sacramento....

The California circle is small. We all just end up buying each other's stuff. No new outsiders at all in the past 20 years. Same goes with the swaps in Socal. We buy their stuff and bring it up here/they buy ours and take it down there. We need new people in the hobby.

I definitely agree with a lot of this , I was pulled into the conversation aswell as I’m new to not only the cabe but the bike hobby. But I don’t think anyone was trying to be malicious nor trying to replace or take anything from Jim,. I took it as trying to find another time to gather and possibly spread the vintage bike sickness to others Just like the car shows and some of the other traditions we all love if there isn’t more new swaps or exposure for others to join in on things will tend to fade off and that would be a shame

New to the hobby?? Listen closely... I'm trying to help you. Delete this app, forget all the bikes you've seen, turn around and run away as fast as humanly possible. Move to a foreign island where you can't get bikes shipped to, because it doesn't get any better. It only gets worse. You will start with one or two, then you have close to 100 bikes,....even girls bikes.... the HORROR!!! It's an infectious disease that there is no cure for. So remember.... i tried to warn you early on before it's too late

My girlfriend was into old cars. She didn't know a thing about old bikes. Now she's got close to 40 of them. Rides them, and knows what they are. Now she shows me bikes she likes and wants on a daily basis..... she's done for. You still have hope. Run and keep running away. Trust me.

Yea sounds like your both definitely infected it’s not just the love of the bikes it’s the thrill of the hunt for parts,knowledge, history , camaraderie, there is alot going on here I’m definitely a schwinnaholic !!! It’s to late for me I’m a goner!!

Marty @cyclingday was once a schwinnaholic. He has bikes from every manufacturer now. He has seen the light. Once you ride something else, you'll see. All bikes ride differently. I started off like most on schwinn.... then found shelbys. Way more comfortable to ride for me. Schwinns always felt small even when I rode my B6. Felt like an adult on a kids bike. My shelbys though feel more stretched out. More relaxed. Don't have to worry about your knees hitting the bars when you turn. Just my .02.
