I'm guessing whoever came up with the idea that lightweights most align with the embodiment of classic cars of the '20s and '30s is a road bike person. I would think something like the top tier balloon tire bikes e.g. Shelby Airflo, Schwinn Aerocycle, or Huffman Super Streamline would align more with the classical style of these cars. Don't get me wrong I really enjoy looking at exotic steel road bikes but get more of a '50s/'60s vibe from these.

I'm planning on going Sunday for the swap. I don't expect to buy anything as these types of bikes are not in my wheelhouse. I'll make sure to take some picts.
