Krakatoa
Riding a '38 Autocycle Deluxe
A diamond in the rough ladies bike here folks!
There are very few known examples of this unusual and rare four bar type frame, it's a Snyder built Rollfast badged 1940 model.
Similar in some regards to the ladies Monark version but even less common.
It is a mostly complete original but is missing it's fenderlight, and rear dropstand.
The bike has an amateur housepaint job but there are places where the original paint can be seen around the bottom of the darts. Wheels are matching and fairly true and correct with New Departure ND D & W but are silver painted as are the fender braces, chainring and crank. Fenders and braces are pretty decent and straight but could be improved a bit more. The front fender needs some attention around the light mounting holes where someone in the past got impatient. The rear rack is pretty hammered but saveable. It has Torrington prewar ladies pedals which may not be og. It has correct profile u bars and a Rollfast Deluxe stem. Seat is a black oilcloth prewar Troxel with some wear and tear. There appears to be no crash damage or fork bending as well as no kickstand squash at the bb area. The rear dropouts do need some attention as they have opened up a bit probably because someone overtightened the axle nuts in the past. It's a pretty straightforward fix but I did want to mention it. It's currently sporting a lousy old kickstand that doesn't work very well.
All in all it's a bike that will require quite a bit of effort to bring back to it's former glory but it has beautiful lines and the attention given would come back many times over to whoever's riding or showing it off!
I did up the skirtguard on one side to see how it looked in the last few pictures!
SOLD
Offers and trades considered.
Here is the Cabe link to the only other example I could find: https://thecabe.com/forum/threads/1...nly-one-known-all-original-prewar-nice.55921/
Thanks for looking and enjoy!
