Looks great, what is the build date on the badge & frame date to add to the Klunker list.

Found this 1983 Sch-murray "Schwinn Cruiser" Ladies 26" on Facebk Mktpl. the other day, locally. Had some parts I was interesting in. Turns out to be a HUxxxxxx Aug 1983 stamped frame with a #1985 stamped Schwinn badge ... July 17, 1985
Frame, Kickstand, Badge & Cushion Grips are only thing Schwinn ... Livonia Schwinn Dealer Sticker.
Truely a Schwinn - Murray built frame.
- Schwinn Top Tube are Stickers, no other decals ever installed.
-The frame never had a chainguard installed. Maybe a replacement frame?
-The kickstand is #377 and sticks out weird, but works great when down.

I purchased it for the Unbranded Tube Fork, 26" x 2.125" Van Schothorst Wheels, Suntour Com Hub, HD Front Hub, HD Spokes, Black Astabula Stem & the nice Persons seat, for one of my other bikes.

All the other parts handlebars, fenders, crank, chainguard, & basket were WALD.
Put it all back together after swapping some parts from my Typhoon Cruiser to make this Schwinn Hollywood Cruiser.

That is another interesting find, and only the second 1985 Cruiser I have seen posted here. Unfortunately, the serial number on my bike is not legible, but it does have an 85 stamped head badge!

I found it interesting that the serial number and number stamped badge were far apart in dating.
It has 1980 Schwinn dated parts on it now to get it back on the road.

I would speculate that all the bikes like these produced in 85 were from existing inventory leftover from the Murray contract to build bikes for Schwinn during the 83/84 model years as they transitioned to the Taiwan imports.

@Dannuus,Looks great, was it originally a Klunker?, what is the build date on the badge & frame date to add to the Klunker list.

It's anybody's guess if it was originally a Klunker 5 since it didn't have a chainguard when I bought it. It does fit the time frame for one though!
