Just a word on the fork. The black finish is a specialized black oxide conversion coating that is difficult to replicate which is why an original finish fork can fetch a high price.

If the model you have was also offered with a paint matched fork, you might consider taking the time to find one and sell the fork separately. Just a thought. Good luck.

Niow that is a really really good thought. Thank you!

Part it out would be the best return. That fork is pretty sought after.

Rear slik and seat aren’t bad, either. I think you’ll do just fine.

When the Schwinn shop here (since 1911) closed a few years ago, I grabbed two NOS Ashtabula forks. I sold one to my friend and kept one for my Sting Ray BMX build. Took me a few years to find the stamped stem, crank and the Black Krome MX seat braces.

I've got a red fork on ebay for $35.00. The stamping shows a 77. Let me know if you wanna buy it to sell the Ashtabula fork. Haven't seen any for sale but they may fetch what you paid for the bike. There's a NOS Ashtabula stamped one like mine on eBay for $399.00.
