Does anyone have a larger catalog shot that shows the entire context? Could be a quantity break, or the illustration has another tire above and they put the prices in the middle?

That came from the Clayton Willard catalog of Jacksonville Florida.

They don’t usually print the dates on those catalogs, but this one lists the Schwinn Varsity and Panther as being new introductory models,

so I’m thinking 1950ish?
Here is the full page ad with the Carlisle Lightning Tire.

With a name like Clayton Willard you’ve got to cut them some slack on the typos.

You could dispense the paint from the pen onto something and then use a fine tip artist brush for detail work.

I just got my tires and one has a kink in the bead…do you think that will be an issue with the shirt sidewall of a triple step rim? I really don’t want to mount them and find it’s a problem. (particularly in the middle of a ride)

Edit: I called and they indicated that I was welcome to ship it back and they would send a new one (which after spending $227 on a set of tires, I don’t think return shipping should be on me if there’s a defect. (but they can’t confirm whether I should be concerned or not)
