Old Johnny's knees were probably sore after his route was done. His seat was waaaay too low. Time capsule video for sure though........thanks for the share @SJ_BIKER Yer bringin' back memories........
While I never had my own route, I did help a friend that was driving at the time. Ha
I've been itching to POST my new find. I'll wait to post the rest of the bike in Sunday's show and tell I suppose.
I knew I had seen a similar shape before and knew what it should be for, but couldn't read what was cast into this part in the original sale post photo to confirm. Decided there were a few things about this bike that made it worth the drive to pick up. With a basket on the front and a hitch in the back for a wagon, I imagine a lot of the 1071 miles showing on the speedometer were spent hauling Newspapers. Neat little accessory whether it's expensive or not!
I'm using mine to carry my lunchbox and jeans to the shop; early in the A.M., like a paperboy; carrying "Light For All" I mounted a 450 lumen headlight to my helmet to make sure I am seen by Drivers still half asleep.

I guess I was lucky, had mostly great customers and never really had a problem collecting or complaints!
The newpaper deliveryman my parents have drives a Lexus SUV to deliver. He drops the paper off a little before lunchtime each day, usually smelling of weed smoke. It can always get worse... it seems.
My local one is a bit better, but likes to drive 50 in our 25 mph zone.

So your parents get the noon edition? When I was delivering, there were three newspapers, the Arizona Republic, which was a morning paper and then there was the Phoenix gazette and the Mesa tribune which were both afternoon additions.. I had the morning route and half of my route Was to the higher end customers that own car dealerships, hardware stores, shoe stores, etc. Those people wanted their newspaper delivered to their front door in time for breakfast. If it was not delivered in time for their breakfast, the crap hit the fan.
